Pt. Reyes, Heirloom Seeds & the Bug War

After Scott helped push my bike into the street I got on the road towards San Francisco. I took 1N thru the city and crossed the windy Golden Gate Bridge. Headed north on 101 and got off at Lucas Valley Rd. And I stopped at Nicascio for lunch at a cool bar. I had Butter Lettuce Salad with apples, cranberries, walnuts and pt. Reyes bleu cheese and an order of grilled garlic oysters. Yum. I cut over to 1N to Pt. Reyes Station and stayed on the curvy road for an hour or so but At 30mph you don't get very far. I decided go back on Petaluma Pt. Reyes Rd. to Petaluma and 101N. As I was going thru town I found a store that only sells heirloom seeds. I had a great time finding peppers, asparagus and tomato seeds. After leaving there I kept going north thru Healdsburg and Geyserville. At Willits they have a sign that says "Gateway to the Redwoods". Soon afterwards I was in the redwoods. Big ones and lots of them. I drove 378 miles and the last 40 miles was in the dark. Since I was in farming country and close to the ocean and lots of water there just happened to be lots of bugs. In fact I think I drove thru a mayfly hatch. My bike looked like it had been attacked by the pesky things. Yeeck. I negotiated the best price I could with the Comfort Inn and then went to the Eel River Brewery for an Amber ale and an albacore sandwich. It was late so I put the t-shirt to bed and dreamed about bugging out of Fortuna the next morning.
